Adrain Dale Charles


Dale Charles (83) of Tempe, passed away on November 6, 2019 after a battle with Alzheimer's. Born in Bernie, MO, Dale was married to Joan Charles with whom they enjoyed 56 years of marriage.

Dale held a bachelor of Education from Arkansas State and master's degree in Educational Administration from Illinois State. He was a committed educator for over 30 years, starting his career in St Louis, MO, moving to Arizona in 1970 as a Principal in Mesa Public Schools first at Westwood HS and later opening Mountain View HS.

After retiring Dale enjoyed bike riding and was an active volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and Salvation Army. Dale and Joan enjoyed spending time with their two daughters and grandchildren, traveling and being with friends. They were active members of the Friendship Village community in Tempe where they lived since 2012.

Dale is survived by daughters Elizabeth Lugo of Richland, WA married to Tracy and their two children Henry and Celia; and daughter Kathy Schulz of Ketchikan, AK married to William and their children Addie (m. Joe Roth), Brennan and Sullivan, great granddaughter Cora.
