McNAMARA , Geoge A. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great and great-great-grandfather, passed away on June 5. Born in Chicago in 1922, George was an Eagle Scout, a graduate from both Lane Tech High School and Wright Junior College, as well as attended Illinois Institute of Technology. He was a WW II Naval Aviator, served in the Pacific Theatre, and retired from the Naval Reserves as a Commander in 1968. George worked as an Electrical Engineer for Western Electric from 1939 until 1979 when he retired to Arizona. He loved the Big Bands and Ballroom dancing. George was an avid golfer, and all around handyman. He loved his yard work, especially cutting his grass. He loved to "putz around". George, and his wife Mary, were part of the founding members of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Ahwatukee. They will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Margaret and his daughter Dr. Mary Kay Penn-Ross, D.D.S. He is survived by his children, sons George (Nora), Jack (Souphanh), and Bill (Robin), daughters Peg Fletcher, Patti (Sam) Borrell, and Suzanne McNamara along with twenty-five grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. He was devoted to his family and was their greatest inspiration in all aspects of life. You couldn't ask for more... His Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, June 18 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 3550 E Knox Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85044. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to The Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
