Vera Juanita Adamson passed away peacefully and gracefully on April 23, 2018 at Fountain View Village Assisted Living in Fountain Hills, Arizona where she resided for five years.
She was an only child, born September 27, 1923 in Ottumwa, Iowa. In February 1942, she married the love of her life, Charles Dale Adamson. After 34 years of farming on RR7 in Ottumwa, Iowa, Juanita and Dale retired to Ahwatukee, AZ in 1981. They had a loving and laughter-filled life together for 54 years before he passed October 13, 1994.
She enjoyed playing bridge and a popular Midwest card game called Pitch. She also spent a lifetime mercilessly defeating nearly everyone at Scrabble! In their retirement community, Juanita was active, social, and always the most fashionable woman in the room (or at the pool). She enjoyed traveling, lounging poolside in the Arizona sunshine and - most of all - she treasured time with family, especially at holiday gatherings and family celebrations.
Juanita is survived by her four children: Linda Hicks in Boise, Idaho; Christine Stevenson in Johnston, Iowa; Kent Adamson in Berthoud, Colorado and Jayne Phillips in Fountain Hills, Arizona. She also leaves six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, a tax-deductible donation in honor of Juanita Adamson may be made to Honor Flight - a non-profit organization providing free transportation for America's WWII heroes to visit war memorials in Washington, D.C.
