Christie Marie Budwill (Chris) Obituary

Mesa, AZ - Christie Marie Budwill (née Chambers), 72, of Mesa, AZ, passed away July 15th, 2022. Christie, known to friends and family as Chris, was born March 2nd, 1950, to Alan Chambers and Olga (Hauck) Chambers in Oregon City, Oregon. Chris graduated from Oregon City High School in the class of 1968. Chris also attended Emanuel Hospital School of Nursing in Portland, Oregon, and graduated while achieving her Registered Nurse certification. She married Mark Budwill on June 22nd, 1974, and they had 3 children, Matthew (Megan), Andrew (Laura), and Adam (Angie). Chris took part in two 4-H clubs. One club was cooking, called the "Cookie Cutters" which was run by her mother Olga. The second 4-H club was a horse club called the "Rockin Riders". She also spent her youth being a camp counselor at Camp Colton for several years. She loved to swim, and show her horse at the County Fair. She worked many jobs over her life including positions as a registered nurse, housekeeper, office manager for the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation in Arizona, and listener services coordinator for KJZZ in Phoenix, Arizona. In her early life she raised horses, painted, and volunteered. She supported her husband's hobby of gardening by harvesting and canning the results all while raising three rambunctious boys. She loved her grandchildren beyond measure. She found joy in sewing items that the next generation would cherish. Chris loved her soap operas on television, and was also an avid reader with an always expanding collection of books. Later in life she was a dedicated fan of the Food Network and loved to cook using her Instant Pot. She attended church regularly and kept up with technology by teaching herself how to develop websites and multimedia presentations for the church. Chris was a woman willing to help anyone who needed it and an advocate for any cause that needed to be fought for. She was there to take care of everyone and make sure everyone was taken care of even to a fault. Chris is survived by her sister Nancy Chambers Eakle, husband, three sons, and four grandchildren (Ethan, Ellie, Hannah, Everly). She will be given back to the sea off of the coast outside Depoe Bay, Oregon, to join some of her family which have passed. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Arizona.
