Mesa, AZ - Gerald "Jerry" Evans passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Dolores Evans; his daughters, Janene Evans and Corinne DuBois; grandchildren Alex Taurman, Danielle Weber, Evelyn Decker, and Zack Decker; and four great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.
Born in Rico, Colorado, Jerry was one of four boys raised on a farm—an upbringing that instilled in him a deep appreciation for hard work, the outdoors, and the simple joys of rural life. The rugged beauty of southwestern Colorado held a special place in his heart, and he spent countless days hunting, fishing, camping, and ultimately living in the region he cherished so deeply.
Jerry proudly served in the United States Navy, where he discovered his passion for aviation radar technology. While stationed in Hawaii, he met the love of his life, Dolores. After a brief three-month courtship, they married and began a lifelong journey together marked by love, resilience, and steadfast commitment to each other and those they held close.
Following his military service, Jerry began a long and dedicated career with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), where he applied his naval expertise in radar systems and spent the remainder of his professional life doing the work he loved.
Jerry's family, raised in Arizona, remembers him as a man of unwavering integrity—tough but fair, steady in presence, and always dependable. He led by example, instilling in his children and grandchildren a love for the outdoors, a strong work ethic, and a deep belief in the importance of family.
A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at a future date in Dolores, Colorado—a place where his spirit will forever be at peace.
