Mesa, AZ - John Edward Howell Junior, age 67 of Mesa, Arizona, passed away peacefully on January 20th, 2024 of myelodysplastic syndrome. John was born to Barbara and John Howell Senior in Tempe, Arizona on August 20th, 1956. John attended schools in the Tempe and Mesa area, and after graduation joined the Marines, from which he was honorably discharged in 1977. John was a lifelong learner, having achieved an Associate of Applied Science degree in both HVAC and HVAC/R, as well as a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Operations Management from ASU.

John was intelligent, confident, trusted, and kind. He had a giving heart and could fix anything. With his generous spirit, it's no surprise you would often find him helping friends and neighbors with their own projects. He was most proud of his children for both their academic and military achievements.

John was preceded in death by his parents Barbara and John Howell Senior, as well as his grandparents Leota Blanche and Frank Howell and Lena and Dean Andrus. He is survived by his sister DeAun Fernau of Glendale, Arizona, his daughter Victoria Howell of Phoenix, Arizona, and his son Jared Howell of Okinawa, Japan.

A memorial service will be held on February 5th, 2024 at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mesa, Arizona, followed by a committal service at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Cave Creek, Arizona.
