Gilbert, Arizona - Raleigh West Johnson passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 26, 2022 at the age of 87.

A viewing will be held Saturday, March 12 at 11:00 a.m. with funeral services following at 12:30 p.m. Services will be at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6345 South Lindsay Road, Chandler, AZ. Graveside at Mesa Cemetary by invitation.

Raleigh was born on August 11, 1934 in Phoenix, Arizona to Charles Edgton and Julia Gwendolyn West Johnson. He spent his childhood in the Snowflake, Arizona area and graduated from Snowflake High School and then from Brigham Young University. He attended Columbia University Law School received a JD/MBA.

He practiced law in Holbrook, Arizona for 19 years and then moved the family to Monett, Missouri where they resided for 14 years. His remaining years were spent in Mesa, Arizona where he continued to practice law until his death.

He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings including bishop, bishop's councilor, high councilor, seminary teacher, and Scoutmaster. He received the prestigious Boy Scout's of America Silver Beaver award and loved scouting. He served his community on the Rotary Club and Holbrook School Board. He also enjoyed genealogical research. He had a great love for the gospel of Jesus Christ and was a master of the scriptures. He was a true example of the Savior through his charity and love for others.

His first wife, Margene Symons Johnson, presently resides in Provo, Utah. His second wife, Marietta June Lindell Rose preceded him in death in 2015.

He had six children: Grant Brian (Myra), Shauna Leigh Mahan (Casey), Lori Jean Woodman (Tim), Mark Eric (Gwen), Julie Kim Beutler (Eric) and Blaine Joseph.

He has 20 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

He predeceased his six siblings who are: Lyle Duane (Myrna), Dean Kendall (Jacque), Craig Varnell (Barbara), Valaine Westover (Brent), Linda Fay Malone (Chuck) and Gwenda Lyne (Wendy) Morris (Don).
