Robert John Meyers (Rob) Obituary

Gilbert, AZ - Robert John Meyers went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 22, 2025, in Gilbert, AZ. Rob is survived by his wife, Gretchen (Moolenaar) Meyers; his son, Alexander John Meyers; and his sisters Pati (John) Hawker of Colorado Springs and Shirley (Rick) Stever of Nashville, TN. Rob was preceded in death by his parents, John (Jack) Gerald Meyers and Barbara Ann (Teal) Meyers, and brother, John "Johnny" Gerald Meyers Jr.

Rob was born on July 10, 1964, in Warren, Michigan, and he and his family resided in Roseville, Michigan. His parents owned a cabin in Lupton, where, as a young child, he liked to fish and explore the woods and surrounding areas with his father and accompany his mother blueberry picking. In 1972, his dad moved the family to Tombstone, AZ, where Rob's grandmother lived. During his residence in Tombstone, Rob completed his elementary education at Walter J. Meyer Elementary School from kindergarten through fifth grade. He subsequently attended John L. Wyatt Junior High School from sixth through eighth grade and Tombstone High School from grade nine through twelve, graduating in 1982. While attending Jr. High and High School, Rob was active in sports, playing on the football, basketball, and baseball teams, as well as playing saxophone in the band.

After completing high school, Rob worked as a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) operator in Sierra Vista, AZ, focusing on specific government contracts. In 1992, he relocated to Celle, Germany, where he utilized his CAD expertise on a project with a German textile company. While residing in Germany, Rob liked to take long walks through the woods, bicycle around Hambühren, where he lived and worked, and visit his sister and family who also lived in Celle during that time. He quickly learned the German language and enjoyed refining his skills by conversing with colleagues and friends. Before returning to the United States, Rob traveled throughout Germany, France, The Netherlands, and England, experiencing the diverse sights and cuisines of each country.

Upon returning to Arizona, Rob earned a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Arizona. After graduation, he taught eighth-grade Social Studies at Chancellor Charter School in Sierra Vista, AZ, where he met his future wife, Gretchen Moolenaar. Rob and Gretchen married on June 21, 2003, in Whetstone, AZ, moved to Chandler, AZ in July of 2003, and then to Gilbert, AZ in October 2004 where Rob taught Technology, English and Social Studies at Queen Creek Middle School. In 2005, Rob received his master's degree in administration from the University of Phoenix, and in April of 2006, Rob and Gretchen welcomed their son, Alexander John Meyers; the pride and joy of Rob's life.

Rob enjoyed being an educator and throughout his career, inspired and encouraged many students to strive for success. However, due to chronic medical issues, he retired from teaching at Queen Creek School District in 2014.

Being skilled in creative writing, Rob often constructed detailed stories with new worlds, complex characters, plots, and themes. He also had a talent for humor and a quick wit, which could make people laugh with a single word, phrase, or sentence.

Rob was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He will be missed beyond words. A memorial service will be planned and held in Colorado Springs, CO at a future date to honor his life and accomplishments. Rob's spirit now resides in Heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and we await the day when our faith will be made sight; when we will, one day, see him again.

John 11: 25-26
